“Every person has a gift for pictures – Johannes Itten and art”

This exhibition, featuring a selection of around 120 exhibits from his archive which is preserved at the ZB, aims to present the full range of Johannes Itten’s work as artist, educator and theoretician. Arranged in chronological sequence, eleven wall displays each introduce thematic areas of his biography and art, while display cases within the room add further detail through additional exhibits. The objects on view include letters, books, photographs, biographical documents, sketchbooks, source documents and historical reproductions. A particular thematic focus is on Itten’s relationship to Zurich.
